Robotics;Notes
This page contains spoilers for Steins;Gate.
Robotics;Notes is the third game in the Science Adventure Series, initially released in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 in Japan. An updated re-release, titled Robotics;Notes Elite, was released on the PlayStation Vita in 2014 in Japan. A port of Elite to the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4 was released in 2019 in Japan, available for individual digital purchase as well as physical purchase through a value set bundle with Robotics;Notes DaSH.
Robotics;Notes Elite released in English on October 13, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam alongside its sequel, Robotics;Notes DaSH. You can read our review of the game here.
Please note that if you are playing the game on Steam, it is highly recommended that you use this fan patch for the game due to the massive number of translation and quality of life improvements that it introduces.
Robotics;Notes follows Kaito Yashio, Akiho Senomiya, and the rest of the Robotics Research Club on their journey to build a giant robot based on an in-universe anime called Gunvarrel. The story takes place on an island called Tanegashima, a real-world location that is just south of Japan. This is also where the Tanegashima Space Center is located, and as a result, rockets and the space center itself are vital to the story. In true Science Adventure fashion, the cast also faces a set of conspiracies throughout the story.
Robotics;Notes’ story takes place in 2019, 9 years after the events of Steins;Gate, and on the Steins Gate worldline (1.048596%). There are several plot, character, and mechanics-related references to Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head present in Robotics;Notes.

Characters
Kaito Yashio
A member of the Robotics Research Club and one of Robotics;Notes main protagonists. He spends most of his time playing a fighting game called Kill-Ballad, and is ranked fifth on its leaderboards.
Akiho Senomiya
Akiho is the president of the Robotics Research Club, Kaito’s childhood best friend, and Robotics;Notes’ other main protagonist. Akiho is extremely optimistic, and very passionate about Gunvarrel and other mecha anime.
Subaru Hidaka
Subaru Hidaka is a second-year student at the same high school Kaito and Akiho attend. He is skilled at programming, building, and operating robots, though for some reason, he is quite secretive about his skills.
Frau Koujiro
Frau, also known by her real name Kona Furugoori, is the creator of Kill-Ballad. She moves to Tanegashima under mysterious circumstances known only to her. She is an otaku, a dedicated @channeler, and a fan of Gunvarrel.
Junna Daitoku
Junna is a timid student at Akiho and Kaito’s high school, and a karate practitioner as well. For some reason, she is hesitant to interact with large robots, and is seemingly afraid of them.
Airi
Airi is a mysterious AI girl that is only visible to Kaito through an app on his PokeCom. She helps Kaito find mysterious digital reports called “Kimijima Reports.” She also has an alternate personality: Sister Centipede.
Misaki Senomiya
Akiho’s older sister. She started the Robotics Research Association while attending Chuo Tanegashima High. She graduated from a university outside Tanegashima and does PR work for Exoskeleton Company.
Mitsuhiko Nagafukada
A teacher at Chuo Tanegashima High and the Robotics Club’s unreliable supervisor. He’s a former classmate of Misaki’s, and was the first president of the Robotics Club when it was founded.
The Robotics;Notes anime adaptation is decent, and is certainly not on the level of Chaos;Head in terms of how poorly it was adapted. However, it still suffers from several issues due to cut explanations and plot elements, as well as the lack of inner-monologue from Kaito, the protagonist. It is highly recommended that interested fans read the visual novel before watching the anime.
